With what knowledge can one grasp what it means to see into one’s nature and become Buddha?
The knowledge that one attains through learning sutras and sastras is called seeing, hearing, perceiving, understanding. This is the knowledge of ordinary, ignorant people; it is not true understanding.
The one who directs the light and allows the light to reflect back, such a one grasps the original Buddha nature. This is what is called the Eye of Wisdom. With this eye one sees one’s nature and becomes Buddha.
