Shih-shu (17th - 18th c)
The solitary peak stands alone
High, aloof
Its shallow brooks frozen, still
Overhead dancing clouds soar
And wheel:
A flock of birds and
Jumbled boulders seem to be
People in conversation.
Its bones, pale white plum blossoms
Its flesh, luxuriant green hedges
Softly, distantly;
Song from another world
Every verse a harmony
On the warmth of summer.
